Power Management Settings
Switching Power Plans
Windows 7 comes with three preconfigured plans. Follow the steps below to change your current power plan.
- You can easily switch plans by clicking the battery icon in the system tray (lower right-hand corner).
- Select the radio button next to the power plan you want to enable or click More Power Options to see all available plans.

If you do not see the battery icon, you can also switch plans by opening the START menu and typing "power options" in the search box.

Which Power Plan is Best?
You can use the descriptions below to determine which plan is best for you:
Balanced (recommended)

Presentation Mode
If you are teaching, giving a presentation, or watching a video and want to temporarily disable the power plan, you can switch to Presentation Mode. While your computer is in Presentation Mode it will not go to sleep/standby and the display will not shut off. Follow these steps to turn on Presentation Mode:
- In the START menu, click All Programs
- Click to expand the Accessories folder
- Select Windows Mobililty Center
- In the Presentation Settings section, click the Turn on button to enable Presentation Mode (click the button again to turn it back off).

You can also use a convenient shortcut to open the Windows Mobility Center. Just press the Windows Logo key + X.
