Employment of Family Members


Immediate family or household may not be employed in positions where they will be subject to close supervisory authority of other family members or where a family member, in the ordinary course of business, makes decisions or plays a significant role in making decisions concerning work assignments, duties and responsibilities.


Immediate family is defined as husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, step-children, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law.


This policy applies to full-time, part-time, temporary and student employees. Any exceptions to this rule must be approved by the President’s Cabinet and be subject to annual review.


This policy applies to all employees of the University.
