An employee who is subpoenaed by Federal, State or County court to appear for review for jury duty or serve on a jury may be granted leave with pay for such purposes, not to exceed 10 days per year, providing the employee remits to the Payroll Services Office his or her court remuneration, less any direct expense incurred for travel and meals.
Employees will not be required to use paid time off for time spent responding to a summons for jury service, participating in the jury selection process, or serving on a jury. Further, employees are protected against adverse employment actions as a result of the court-ordered appearance.
Employees who are scheduled for jury duty must immediately provide documentation of the jury duty summons to their supervisor. If excused or released from jury duty, employees are expected to return to work promptly.
This policy applies to all the employees of the University.
