Business Continuity Plan - Web

PLAN INFORMATION

The web application runs over multiple servers.  In the event that more than one server fails a priority list has been established by the web team (As of 10/06/10).  Included in this document are the specifications and recovery plans for KRYPTONITE, AZURE, DILITHIUM, RUST, MITHRIL, TAN and LIST-OUT.  Information regarding BERYL is covered under BC Plan for Datatel, NAVY and GRAPHITE are included elsewhere.

 

PRIORITY LIST – WEB SERVER RESTORATION

  • KRYPTONITE – All live websites
  • MITHRIL – failover for Kryptonite
  • AZURE –Non-CMS web content, some secure forms
  • DILITHIUM – secure server
  • TAN – development box
  • RUST –staging
  • NAVY – SQL Live database (CMS)
  • BERYL – data marts for travel applications, legal database, courses, faculty info
  • LIST-OUT – list server

MITHRIL has been created as a backup server for KRYPTONITE.  If KRYPTONITE failed the duplicate machine would take over (following a
manual process performed by the web team, sys admin and network
teams.)

                Long Term Restore Process:
