Windows 8 Wireless

 

Introduction

This will walk you through setting up your Windows 8 computer for the IWU-Student wireless network.

Step 1

  1. Place cursor in upper right corner of screen to display the menu on the right.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Control Panel.
  4. Click Network and Internet.
  5. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  6. Click Set up a new connection or network.

Step 2

  1. Click Manually connect to a wireless network. Click Next.
  2. Enter “IWU-Student” for the Network name, choose WPA2-Enterprise for the Security Type, and click Next.
  3. Click Change connection settings.
  4. Choose the Security tab and click the Settings button.
  5. Uncheck “Verify the server’s identity by validating the certificate”.  Click the Configure  button.
  6. Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password", and then click OK twice.
  7. Click the Advanced Settings button.
  8. Check “Specify Authentication Mode”.  In the drop-down box below it, choose User Authentication.
  9. Click the Save credentials button and enter your IWU username (firstname.lastname) and password.
  10. Click OK three times.  Click Close.  Exit out of the Control Panel.  You should now be connected to IWU-Student.

Step 3(Optional but suggested for better connectivity)

  1. Place cursor in upper right corner of screen to display the menu on the right.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click on Change PC Settings.
  4. Choose Network from the list.
  5. In the Connections section, look for Wi-Fi and the Manage known networks link. Click or tap on it.
  6. Select the IWU-Guest network and press Forget.
