How to replace print drivers

This article will explain how to completely remove a print driver for replacement

 

  1. Be sure you know and or record the print queue name(s) (if there are multiple printers with the same driver, record them too)
  2. Remove or delete all of printers that are using the driver you want to remove
  3. Go to Manage Computer and Restart the Printer Spooler service
  4. For Windows 7, go back to Devices and Printers
  5. Highlight a printer and then open the Print Server Properties
  6. Go to the Drivers tab and remove the driver(s) that you want to update
  7. Add the printers back from the print server
