How to Clear Temporary Files in Safari

Overview

This guide will walk you through clearing your temporary internet files in Safari. It's a good idea to perform this on occasion to keep your pages loading properly.

Steps

Select the version of Safari you are using and then follow the necessary steps below.

Windows

  1. Click on the icon that looks like a gear in the upper right hand corner.
  2. Click on Reset Safari from the resulting menu.
  3. Uncheck Remove saved names and passwords and Remove other Autofill form text.
  4. Click the Reset button.
  5. Close Safari and reopen it.
  6. You will need to repeat this process if you have issues in the future.

Mac - OSX

  1. Click on the word Safari in the upper left hand side of the screen near the Apple logo.
  2. Click on Clear History... from the resulting menu.
  3. Select all history from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click the Clear History button.
  5. Quit Safari and reopen it.
  6. You will need to repeat this process if you have issues in the future.
