Scantron machines are scoring machines that scan paper-and-pencil tests and print a percentage correct score on the paper.

• connected to power, but may be powered off when not in use
• not connected to network
• requires consumables: printer cartridges and paper test forms
• requires routine maintenance; some machines will prompt the user to run a cleaning procedure, or indicate an error that can be remedied with cleaning
