Document Camera Troubleshooting

Please Note: These instructions are for document cameras at National and Global Regional Site classrooms only

Document Camera Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the Doc Cam is turned on. Press and hold the power button to turn on. The blue LED ring surrounding the power button indicates the power is on.
    1. If there is no blue LED ring around the power button, then the device is not receiving power.
      1. Connect the power cable to the jack labeled DC 12V IN, on the back panel of the base of the doc cam.
      2. If the teaching station is not powered on, make sure it is plugged into the wall power outlet, and that any master power switch is in the ON position.
    2. Wait for it's boot-up cycle to complete (less than 30 seconds).
  2. Verify that the lens cap has been removed. It is on the underneath-side of the tallest part of the camera, and soft rubber, typically gray in color.

Are you attempting to connect the document camera to the projector or flat panel display?

  1. Press the Doc Cam button on the Extron Media Link Controller or Touch Panel, located on the Teaching Station
  2. Press the Display "ON" button on the Extron Media Link Controller or Touch Panel
  3. If the button is blinking RED, press the Display Mute or Blank button on the Extron Media Link Controller or Touch Panel
  4. Verify that the DVI or VGA video cable is tightly connected to the Document Camera.

Are you attempting to connect the document camera to a computer for use as a webcam?

  1. Verify that the USB cable is connected to the Document Camera. It will be a USB 2.0 Type B connector (square, with two angled corners).
  2. Restart the Doc Cam by holding the power button to turn off, and then repeat to turn back on again.
  3. If none of these steps resolves the issue, contact the support center for assistance.
