In 2025, new technology has been added to classrooms at the Merrillville campus. This page highlights the information needed to use and support this technology.

Displays

This classroom has two teaching stations with sound systems, and two displays:

  • A ceiling mounted laser Projector
    • Projects onto manual screen on the front wall of the room.
  • Resolution = 1920 x 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio)
  • Both projectors turn on when the system starts up, and both turn off when the system powers down
  • To turn off an unneeded projector, you will need an Epson remote control, aimed at the projector.

Sources

The teaching station provides two ways to share your mobile device to the projection screen and ceiling speakers.

  • HDMI cable  for connecting a laptop computer, tablet, smart phone, or a BluRay player
    • plug your device into the provided HDMI cable, connected to the wall plate beneath the Touch Panel.
    • If your device doesn't have an HDMI port, bring your own HDMI adapter, or request an adapter
  • Wireless casting, using ScreenBeam, following instructions on the screen
    • Windows PC users connect using Miracast (which still allows connection to internet)
    • Mac Users connect to ScreenBeam's WiFi (which disables internet connection; appropriate for showing files that are already on your mobile device)
  • There are two  HDMI laptop wall plates in a large room. Choose which room's HDMI wall plate you are connecting from
    • You'll need to know which room you are in when connecting your laptop to the HDMI wall plate
    • One end of the large room is the default selection when the system boots up. This is the end where the screen can be seen by viewers in both rooms.
