XCUA Gets Stuck
Explains how to fix the problem of XCUA getting stuck on the progress bar.
Symptoms
- When running XCUA, the progress bar stops working and nothing happens for a long time.
Possible solutions
Bad student data
Usernames and email addresses are generated using students' last, first and/or nick names on NAE. Check the students' names on NAE and be sure that:
- They are 100% correct.
- The do not contain diacritic (accented) characters.
- They start and end with at least one alphabetical character.
Things that have caused a problem in the past:
- A first, last, or nick name with a bad character such as a dash at the end
- A first, last, or nick name that contains only a period or some other non-alphabetical character
- A first, last, or nick name that contains diacritic (accented) characters
Warning:
Disappointing though it may be, Ellucian Colleague does not support diacritic/accented characters in any data field. Some screens will allow such characters to be saved in them, but it can and will cause errors or unpredictable behavior due to the underlying technology.
