How to Connect Dual Monitors

This page is useful for when the user wants to connect multiple monitors to their laptop.This tutorial will show you how to connect multiple monitors to your computer.
Steps for Windows Users
To get started...
- Connect monitor to laptop.
- Turn on monitor.
- The laptop should detect the other monitor and display a repeat image of the laptop.
- Next right click on the desktop.
- Select Screen Resolution.
- Under "Multiple displays" click on the drop down
- Select "Extend" to these displays.
Steps for Mac Users
To get started...
- Connect monitor to laptop.
- Turn on monitor.
- The laptop should detect the other monitor and display a repeat image of the laptop.
- Open up "System Preferences"
- Select "Displays"
- Select the "Arrangements" tab
- Drag the smaller monitor around to how you want your displays to be ordered
- For example if your laptop is down and to the left of the other monitor, move the smaller one in the "Arrangements" tab so that it is up and to the right of the larger one.
- Uncheck "Mirror Displays" if checked
What's Next
You should now have an extended display onto your second monitor from your laptop. If you are still not successful, try disconnecting the monitor from the laptop and reconnecting it, making sure the connection is correct, and that the all the steps have been followed.
