Zoom Randomly Muting

Steps to fix Zoom randomly muting itself

 

This article is if user is experiencing Zoom random sound issues. (random muting during meetings)

The first step is to change speaker properties

1.      Open “Control Panel”.

2.      Navigate to “Hardware and Sound” > “Sound”.

3.      In the pop–up Sound window, click “Playback” Tab, highlight “Speakers” and click on “Properties”.

4.      In the pop-up Speakers Properties window click “Advanced” tab.

5.      Uncheck all (four) check boxes, click “Apply” and “Ok”.

 

The second step is to change microphone properties

1.      In the pop–up Sound window, click “Recording” Tab, highlight “Microphone” and click on “Properties”.

2.      In the pop-up Microphone Properties window click “Advanced” tab.

3.      Uncheck all (two) check boxes, click “Apply” and “Ok”.

4.      Exit out of Control Panel.

 

The final step, and most important

1.     Open Zoom, sign in if necessary.

2.      Lower left corner of Zoom window, on taskbar, click on the arrow next to the microphone icon.

3.      Click on “Audio Settings”.

4.      In the pop-up window click on advanced in the lower right corner.

5.      Open the drop-down box in the first two lines, “Suppress Persistent Background Noise” and “Suppress Intermittent Background Noise”, and select “Disable”.

6.      Click the “X” in the upper right corner of the window to exit.

Turn on speakers and microphone as necessary in the Zoom app.
