Establish Executive Support

Overview

Explains the importance of and tips for establishing executive support.

Details

It is critical to the success of any process change initiative that the need for the change be fully understood and endorsed by the executive management of the institution.

  1. Frequent visible support of the PRESIDENT is a very powerful tool in the introduction, design and implementation of a new process.

  2. Depending on the business process selected, direct hands-on involvement by the functional Vice President may be required. At the very least, the functional Vice President must be routinely visible and available to members on the Process Redesign Team.

  3. In all situations, department managers of those processes being redesigned should be active participants of the BPR team.

  4. It will be helpful to include the IT Project Management Office as early in the process as possible to help inform what tools and systems are available to aid in process improvement.
