Updating Web Browsers as an IWU Employee

Overview

This page explains how browsers at IWU are updated on IT maintained devices. You can also manually update browsers by following the instructions in the section below on how to manually update browsers.

Automatic Browser Updates

By default, main browsers are configured to update automatically when all windows are closed and relaunched. Additionally, IWU pushes out updates on a regular cycle which includes browser updates. However, special circumstances may require you to manually update your browser such as in the event of a Critical Vulnerability being identified or as a troubleshooting step. You can learn how to manually update in the sections below.

Application Catalog Browser Updates

You can update Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera by choosing to reinstall the browser from the application catalog. The application catalog is updated nightly with the latest builds of these browsers.

Note:
Microsoft Edge updates are deployed via windows patches so it will not appear in the application catalog. This is also true for Mac users and the Safari browser, updates for it are pushed via regular Apple updates.
